Scientific Research Leadership Certificate Initiative
Introduction:
In line with King Faisal University’s commitment to strengthening research competencies and fostering an effectively managed work environment that inspires and enables its researchers to compete globally in light of 21st-century requirements—and stemming from the university’s strategic plan objectives in the field of scientific research—the Scientific Research Leadership Certificate Initiative was launched as one of the key initiatives aimed at building an advanced research community that keeps pace with global scientific developments.
The initiative seeks to empower researchers at the university by enhancing their research skills, which will positively reflect on the quality of scientific output and reinforce the university’s competitiveness both locally and internationally.

The program was designed for researchers seeking to enhance their competence in statistics and to support them in confidently navigating and applying advanced techniques. The program aims to strengthen understanding of key statistical concepts and their relation to research design. It also highlighted how to develop expertise in applying statistical methods to real-world research problems.

It explains the techniques that assist in managing scientific references and demonstrates how to use Zotero effectively for reference management. The program provides a professional guide on leveraging Zotero to handle citations, organize sources, and automatically format references. It also emphasizes efficient time management in handling references through the use of technology.

Additionally, the program supports researchers in developing innovative research ideas that contribute to the broader dissemination of scientific knowledge, while also enhancing their ability to manage funded research projects effectively.

Program Participants – Numbers and Diversity
The total number of participants in the series of programs reached 488 trainees (with repeated participation), including 202 male trainees and 286 female trainees. A total of 180 faculty members benefited from these programs, comprising 83 men and 97 women (with at least one participation).
Faculty members from 14 colleges took part, with the College of Education and the Applied College recording the highest participation rates, followed by the College of Science. The remaining participants came from various other colleges, deanships, and administrative units of the university.
A total of 59 trainees successfully met the requirements to obtain the certificate (by attending at least four training programs), including 21 male trainees and 38 female trainees.
